Yankees look like they will be extremely dominant in 2007. Pitching looks like will be their strong suit with Wang, Mussina, Pettite, Pavano, Igawa, with Karstens, Hughes and Sanchez waiting in the wings. I thought Bruney looked awesome last year and with Proctor and the new guy, Viscaino, middle relief could be the best in AL, which is great news when you have the best closer, Mo.
As for the offense, they had the best last year, and I expect them to be the best this year. Don't be surprised to see them wrap up the home-field advantage by the end of August.

Pettitte is a good pick up not the greatest, but he'll get about 15 wins this season. Good move to trade R. Johnson before he started to collect social security. They could use another strong arm, someone a little better than Pettitte. Clemens would be nice, but I doubt if he wants to return to NY. In baseball as well as any other sport injuries play a deciding factor on how far teams go in the playoffs. If the Yankees could stay healthy, they have a great chance of winning it this year.

Whats a chip? Anyways, no one is saying their staff is overly dominant this year. For some insane reason, sports "brains" keep slotting Carl Pavano in the yankees rotation. The Japanese guy really can't be factored into any equation until we see what he looks like against MLB players. And losing randy johnsons 209 innings pitched is going to be tough to replace. I'm not saying that getting rid of johnson was a bad idea, im just stating that 209 innings pitched is a lot of innings to cover.
Other than that, they're a lot younger and look healthy, A-Rod is potentially in a free agent year (he can opt out of his contract if he chooses) and I love players in their walk year- big numbers = big money.

They could possibly win but seems doubtful. They added no pitching (petitte v johnson is a wash at best) so it still will be a problem. No dominate rotation in playoffs spells a repeat of last year. Curse of the Arod lives strong yet again.

Well being a Blue Jays fan I am still going to be honest. Do to their awesome batting lineup they should be able to take the division and the Jays will take the Wild Card. and from their we shall see what happens. Being a Jays fan I want the Jays to take it all but that is a bias opinion

I think they do. They definatly improved there pitching. Randy johnson was a dud. It would be nice to see them get the rocket back though. Either way the definatly have to be favorites again.
