Yes, and it won't take long to get it done. We'll do it the same way Sweden turned itself from a first world country into a third world country.
Expand social programs and regulations to the point where operating a business just isn't worth the trouble, and neither will being productive. If all your needs become rights to be provided whether you are productive or not, why would you get up in the morning and be productive. Most people wouldn't and won't.

Well, we kinda started OFF as a third-world country, and we let a bunch of immigrants in from all over. We assimilated the best of each group and became not only a huge superpower, but a superpower founded at least on the IDEALS of liberty and equality. Pretty damn cool.
However, we had better balance the budget soon, or we might fall from the top suddenly, rather than gently float down over several centuries.

We're also allowing the population from a 3rd world country to march right in and remake America in their image. We have Hugo Chavez, China, Russia and Iran making alliances, likely to cut off America's foreign oil supplies sometime in the future to knock the US down.
Yes, I think it is likely that internal conflict due to the Aztlan reconquest movement, along with foreign tyrants teaming up to knock out the US energy supplies, will occur.
Some time ago, the host of "Connections", Richard Burke (?), indicated that the only people likely to survive that sort of major catastrophe would be the well armed Militia Survivalists in well defended mountain regions.

Yes, if we don't get our heads out of our butts and take a long, hard,
objective and unbiased look at the world around us and recognize what it is we're truly dealing with, and not some flowery "I just want to get reelected" garbage from the politicians, we will be a third world country, and a lot sooner than anybody is capable of imagining.

A third world country not by the standards that we judge countries on today. We won't be a superpower for much longer though. There are a few countries in Asia, China for 1 that if they got there sh*t together would over take the USA as a superpower.

You do understand that Arianna Huffington (founding father of the Huffingtonpost) has a e book out reported as third international u.s. top? Liberals will in all hazard no longer be very bowled over. in reality, they are those telling every person that this is a danger if we don't substitute. Freaking out won't help lots. we can fix the subject concerns we face.

No. Our natural resources are too great. We can sustain ourselves and grow on a major scale like no other country on the planet.
There's more natural forest in New York state than in all of France. And forget about what we have in the West and Alaska.

Probably will happen, but it might take a long time like several more centuries. Or perhaps America will just dissolve like Rome did.
