I know that "The Others" creeped me out when I was 12.
And "The Shining" is just creepy EVERY time I see it... and I'm 18 now.
The part that gets to me in "The Shining" is the part with the twins... I always imagine them being in front of me.
Also, "The Sixth Sense", the first time I watched that one, I was really creeped out.
They all scared me pretty bad after watching them.

Many sites and horror books have attempted to compile listings of the scariest scenes in film history. [Author's Note: Admittedly, the word 'scariest' may also be interpreted as most horrifying, shocking, or many other such synonyms.] In late October 2004, the Bravo cable network first presented a countdown of 100 movies that contained the 100 Scariest Movie Moments in Film History, later supplemented with 30 Even Scarier Movie Moments in October, 2006. Other sites and film critics have presented their own compilations of cinema's scariest scenes, such as the UK's Channel Four and RetroCrush. The selections of Entertainment Weekly for the "20 Scariest Movies of All Time" in October 2004 are marked with this symbol --
The following list, in unranked alphabetical order, presents a solid collection of the most classic, 'scariest' scenes in movie history, including film scenes that were once considered 'scary' upon their initial screenings (or scary for young viewers), but have lost some of their shock appeal. Films represent some of the best and worst of the horror film genre including entries from the classic Universal 30's monster films to some of the scariest, most shocking, bloodiest and gore-ridden slasher films of the recent past. Other areas of this website have scariest scenes also - see Greatest Film Scenes with some descriptions of scary scenes included, or entries in Best Film Death Scenes.

When I was a kid, I got up late one night after everyone had gone to bed and watched this movie called, "Embryo." I don't remember much about it, other than it scared the fire out of me for weeks on end... I was in 3rd or 4th grade tops at the time....

For me, that movie was "The Grudge". The reason? Because of the fear that something evil is coming after you and no matter where you go, you can't hide from it. Very boogie man type of movie.
I slept with the lights on for 4 days after watching it.

I don't know why but "The Exorcist III" really got me when it first came out.
"The Ring" was also trippy. It was the first movie to really push the "backwards walking - moving forward" trick to freak you out. I mean one second she's 20 feet away and then another she's right in front of you.
"What Lies Beneath" with Harrison Ford was creepy, too.
"The Exorcist" was also way ahead of its time. If you watch the new director's cut special features they have one of the original trailers for the movie where the demon face keeps popping out of the black screen. If you haven't seen it... YOU MUST WATCH IT!!

the first Halloween movie....it wasn't real gory but had the eerie feeling of someone watching you. Also the very first Nightmare on Elm Stret movie was pretty scary.
