My mom overdoes it with food shopping. Im the baby of the family and she doesnt realize that her 3 other daughters dont live here anymore, and she still shops at the grocery store every week and ends up spending over 100$ every time. she brings home food that we dont need or things we already have. she always buys at least 2 bags of salad mix every week as well as fruits and veggies and most of it just sits there untouched till it goes bad.
ive tried to help her a few times and tell her that we dont need so much food, but she never stops overbuying. she still buys as if there were 4 kids in the house to feed! what can i do to get her to stop? i would like her to save more of her money.

You better tell your mom that she is wasting her money, time and life! You can exaggerate how much money she speeds every time she buys something and that will probably make her realize that she overspending after a while.
Also you should say something like: "You could have bought something better than a bag of oranges if you actually wait for the right price to buy. You could have bought 2 times the oranges if you waited. Also, you wouldn't finish it anyway so why bother buying it." and so on.
You basically need to rant and she will eventually give up. It works for me.

Offer 2 do the shopping for her. Then you buy what you think you need. Maybe she does not want to admit that her babies are growing up. Go every week as she would but do not speed as much. Hopefully that works b/c I know how it feels to watch food go bad. We are Italian and there are only 3 of us but when my mom cooks she cooks for 10 and I hate leftovers.

Make the list, take her 100, and offer to do something nice for her and u go shopping. Save the money for 2 months, and receipts, then give her the money back and say mom...this is what we needed, people are starving all over the world and we have food going bad. I love you and i just wanted to tell you to stop going food crazy every week.
It worked with my mom lol
