I have been trying to remember the name of a song....it was about an abusive family and a fire broke out in the house and killed both the parents sparing the little girl...she was taken to live with another family and she could not believe what it was like to live so loved and cared for...in this house she pointed to a picture on the wall and said that is the man who protected and saved me behind our couch from the fire......it was a picture of Jesus....

The song you are referring to was sang by John Michael Montgomery. The mother was a drug addict and the dad was an alcoholic. i don't recall afire. the song that had to do with a fire was Independence Day by Martina Mcbride. That was about abuse also.

Yeah it's "The Little Girl". One of my all time favorite songs. It was the first one I really loved.
