How many congressmen and women regret giving Bush a blank check (that's essentially what it was) to 'defend us' against Sadam?

We will soon see when they take up a no confidence vote on Bush's escalation plan. Of course, there are a lot of former members of Congress who are no longer in Washington because of giving Bush a blank check. Many of them regret it, I'm sure.

First of all, as I'm sure you already know, Saddam was not a threat to the U.S. Secondly, the entire problem was that Bush lied to Congress and then presented it as being part of the war on terror. These guys are politicians. They want to be reelected. They did not want it to appear to their constituents that they were voting against the war on terror. I'm sure by now that any of them with a conscience wish they would have not agreed to Bush's war of aggression.

Having Saddam Hussein in power in that region WAS a threat to America. We just didn't realize it until after 9/11/01. The dumb ones that don't realize this probably DO regret it.

They might.
I think they will regret even more withdrawing their support for him. Not only would it be political suicide, but it's very difficult to (with conscience) not support the defeat of terrorists.

I doubt any. They are politicians. A better question would be do they have a conscience. Why would you not want to spend every last dollar we have to fight terrorism. Why sell us short?

They regret it only if they think it will get them votes. They would vote Bush as lifetime dictator if they thought it would get the votes. Panderers...
