Yes
I work in a small school where a little girl (age 10) has a severe allergy to nuts and peanuts.
Our school is "nut aware" which means we don't allow nuts or peanuts in any shape in the school. She has been with us since kindergarten.... thus far - there have been no incidents.

I am an adult, over 20 years of age, he he. I have had severe food allergies since I was an infant. I am allergic to everything from sea food, nuts, vegetables, and fruits, and some legumes. Some of the things I can eat if cooked but I have to be very careful as I never know when I will have a reaction. But crabmeat, shrimp, bananas, most nuts, all melons will cause my eyes to swell shut and I break out with hives , get a migraine, my nose will get stuffy, and I have difficulty breathing. This will cause me to have to go to the hospital for treatment as it is life threatning, so I try not to eat any of those things. The red dye in beef causes me to get a headache, acute indigestion with a very bad stomach ache.

I know several people with major food allergies.

I, myself (age 27), am allergic to shellfish (shrimp, crabs etc). A former coworker was deathly allergic to roses (age 24). I have two cousins that are allergic to corn products (17) and nuts (11). My aunt is allergic to animal dander (48).

I know that not all of these are food allergies, but they are still serious allergies.

She is 34 and allergic to all kinds of nuts. She has to carry a syringe and some type of antibody or something with her all the time because her throat closes us. Scary.

She never eats out because they can't guarantee that there isn't residue from nuts in the food.

Yes, my ex husband is allergic to shellfish. He is 43. The last time I saw him eat shrimp his face got so deformed it was creepy!! He looked just like Will Smith on the movie "Hitch" when he got the food allergy attack.

Me - 16 - All melons. First comes the cold sweats, then I start to shake, then very bad stomach cramp, then I spend time worshiping the porcelain god. After an hour or more of that. I sleep and shake for several more hours. (All that from just one or two drops of melon juice.)

My friend claims to be allergic to SOY, she is 21,but I think it is all a cover up for being anorexic, and I am not the only one to think so.

She used to be heavy when we were teens and now she is skinny, but not anorexic skinny.

She work out every morning. (Extensively)

I know my cousin is deathly allergic to onions he is 25.
