No major hardware upgrade is permitted after installation.
Only one installation and one migration is permitted per license for the home user.
If you want to re-install it you will need to purchase another license from Microsoft.

DRM verification required on everything that runs on Vista.
If you want virus and spyware protection you will have to purchase it exclusively from Microsoft with a one year subscription.
There is a lot more but it would read like a book.

Do yourself a favor and save up and get a Mac, that is what everyone else is doing now. (myself included)
You can get a nice MacBook for under $1000 and Mac supports the hardware and operating system as a unified system.

I have been using Vista for several months now from Beta to Final and am very pleased with it. Most manufacturers have drivers out now. The graphics and features are great.

It will require a lot of beefy hardware. Get a video card that has at least 128MB of ram and at least 1GB of computer memory.

I agree with the Dest for several reasons, its got a lot of things go for it, but in the end its just a very bloated system. Yes, that will push technology to the market sooner, but it will also make older systems even more obsolete.

A year ago, my notebook system was mid-grade, now it is "barely" adequate to run the whole aero theme with all the bells and whistles that MS put in there. There are a lot of great features though, but I don't think its worth an upgrade right away.

Well, Good try for a System, lots of Top Points, but not an OS to buy for the Regular user, not unless you want severe nightmares until they fix the Major Bugs

I'll wait for the first service pack. Version 1s have a notorious reputation, especially from Microsoft. Even then, it's pretty but I don't see much advantage to it.

Not used it yet, though from the specs it seems to need a better graphics card than for XP, more RAM (atleast 1GB) and more hard disk space.
