Things are not always how we perceive them to be. It isn't always just about us, and we usually miss something that throws all your plans out the window. We are not in total control of our existence. In fact, some days I wonder how much we are in control. No matter what you think nothing is a total positive gonna be, everything is subject to change from outside intervention. Your health can suprisedly change, wham, you can lose your job, wham, your loved ones can die or be killed, wham wham, somebody can rip you off, wham, somebody can and the list goes on.

LOL...I've always loved that quote!

It's so true....while you are occupied making plans for what you want, for your life, life is happening all around you! I truly believe he was saying, slow down, look around, appreciate life in all its instants, and if those instants happen to be the same ones you want, then great. If not, you'll be so busy actually enjoying life, it won't matter!

my favorite quote is..."Possession isn't nine-tenths of the law. It's
nine-tenths of the problem."

I always thought it was like saying that you can plan all you want, but you really have no control over what's going to happen

It's a paraphrase of Robert Burns famous line, "The best laid plans of mice and men gain aft a gley and leave us naught but grief and pain for promised joy."

i'd say john wanted you to get a life and concentrate on it. There is use to get other flings only to hurt them more. I guess that would be it.

The one we use at work is "A man makes plans, and God laughs". I don't know where it comes from.

Things never work out quite the way you want them to.
