There is an ebb and flow to everything in this world and the relative power of one gender over the other in the battle of the sexes is no exception. Right now we are riding out what I think is the pinnacle of just how far of a swing we are making towards the relative power of women. Because of changes in the laws of the land as well as the advent of reporductive technologies and drugs, women have been able to break out of their traditional gender defined roles and move into areas that used to be men's. In many ways it has turned us into a sort of useless gender. We can't carry the babies, but then providing the income/resources for the home isn't our exclusive province anymore either. What this has meant is that the need for us to meet our responsibilites have been removed, which has led to more men shirking them, which in turn has led to a decline in our rights. Thing is that can't go on forever. If society keeps marginalizing men like this, it will lead to problems to cause a back swing. Of that I have no doubt.
History has proven when you marginalize or minimize people, the unfailing response is violence and I believe we're already seeing it. I truly believe the world has grown more violent in the last thirty years and that it is going to get worse. If society wants to buck this trend, some room needs to be made for men's responsibilites to be more necessary and enforcable. There needs to be less tolerance of both men and women's parts in creating families where the men are alienated or removed. (Meaning mostly women need to stop letting a**holes father their children, Not that they should be living with these jerks later) then the "rights" can come back after.

If they do, you can only blame it on the stereotypical structure of the family that men choose to uphold. If more is shared within the family amongst the parents then in the end when custody is granted a man's capabilities of raising his children wouldn't be in question. Even studies comparing stress levels of married men and women who work show that men's stress levels decline after work whereas women's stress levels stay steady and do not drop. That in itself is a reflection of the contribution american men put into their households.
Also, using always is one-sided and unfair. There are many cases in which men are granted custody, alimony, child support, etc. However, if every case is reviewed individually (which it is) and you are consistently seeing that more often women are granted custody and spousal support, its more indicative of how little effort many men are putting into the interaction with their children. Most likely part of the reason why the courts are deciding the fate of your family instead of you.

I agree... comparing Chivalry with Misogyny is almost like comparing Christianity with Islam... Other than the fact that both beliefs are very anti feminist... Chivalry and Misogyny have very little in common with each other as well... For one fact, Chivalrous men are very protective of women. Where as most Misogynist men tend to usually be the biggest enemy's of Chivalrous men out there. Misogynist men usually are the type of low ones who like to harm women and be rude around women. In Chivalry... smacking a woman around was a rude classless act of barbarism that can get you severely punished, but in Misogyny smacking a woman around is just showing her who's in charge of the house hold. Wife beating is for sure condemned in Chivalry, but wife beating is rarely condemned in misogyny.. since misogyny is all about hating women anyways. Harming women is for sure not Chivalry. Being rude around women is for sure not Chivalry. MOST forms of misogyny isn't Chivalry. (only a little bit is) Like for example... a Chivalrous man can say to his wife that he is the head of the house, because the head of the house has to do all the providing and protecting.. and a Chivalrous man can say that women are weak and should have no right to have jobs or to go to war because it is not safe for them to do that. How ever unlike a misogynist... a Chivalrous man would NEVER smack a woman or beat his own wife. A Chivalrous man would rarely even raise his voice to his own wife. In fact a Chivalrous man would perhaps beat the living day lights out of the first man he catches harming a female. So I don't think that a Chivalrous man and a hardcore misogynist man would get along with each other. They would probably fight each other.

hopefully equal rights. Men nd women want the same things but just might have different baggage to overcome. Women have been discriminated for centuries -- black, Hispanics have Lao. Men have had it ll nd now have to share. Give it up honey

I thought it was the other way around. I do see more single dads these days and if they are the better parent it's good that they have the children. If the guys are irresponsible they shouldn't be role models for their kids.;
