I would like to open an account in a bank in USA online but I am not living in USA, please help, is there any bank who does not ask for the security no.

You do not need to have a SSN to open a bank account in the US if u can provide other ID's. However u need to be living in the US to open a bank account there. I work with citibank. applications for such customers are processed only if they are living here and can maintain a high account balance.

It's actually against the law to open a bank account without identification. You'd have to contact the individual bank that you're interested in to see if there's a way to identify yourself without going to the branch. Try banks that have strong online presences, like ingdirect.com or etrade.com (yes, they also do banking).
