There is a feature on I-tunes that apparently does this, but it doesn't seem to work very well as there is too much difference between the loudest song and the softest. Does anyone else have this problem?

in preferences, set the sound level
You need to do this on the Ipod also
There are great books to read like IPod for Dummies that explain all this and much more. Go to the library and check it out.

on your ipod go to settings it should be on there if not set it on itunes update your ipod and see if it makes a difference;.
