Buy the CCNA book by Cisco Press. That's what I did. It's important that you understand the material instead of one of these people that pay for one of those "Pass the CCNA guaranteed" websites.

Good luck!

i got my ccna a year ago, buy a router on ebay for 50 bucks, get a 2500 or a 3000, use a serial db-9 cable to hook it up to your serial pc to your pc, and user hyper terminal to log in, play with it, on the test there are two interactive questions in which you will have to configure a router and a switch, even if you answer all of the theory questions right and fail on the config. questions you will not pass. as for a book any book will do fine, i believe i used "testking" but the problem is that it didnt' include NAT's and you will get questions about it.
if you don't have any previous network experience it will be very hard for you to get a job on cisco routers, recruiters want you to have worked with network configurations like windows or novell before letting you touch the cisco routers, even if you show them your ccna certification.

go meet someone who has done CCNA.
they will be having CCNA dumbs...a huge collection of qns asked in ccna. go through them...they will give you a pretty good idea about what to study and how qns would come for the test.

Also get a copy of boson net sim simulator....in that you can learn network connection simulations.
