they just want to cover their backs. apparently loads of retailers are unnecessarily putting on labels saying 'dry clean only' for an item that doesn't really need to be for this reason.

If it is a sleep shirt it is to retain the flame retardant, or if it is one of those color sensor or sun-blocker shirts that would also prevent the effectiveness of the treated garment. Other than a treated garment scenario I have no idea - you could always call or email the customer service center for a clear understanding. Good Luck!

because if you do use it, it might make the fabric to soft and make the treads weak
