Devon,
You will love it (unless you are a Yankee fan). If you are from Tampa and are going to cheer the D'Rays, no one will bother you. The urine smell only is noticeable when the Yankees are in town, so don't listen to the Yankee fans. They pick up that smell from riding the New York City subway. They only notice the smell when they get out of town.
Yes, there are obstructed view seats. Fenway Park was built in 1912, so there are seats that you have to crane your neck around a pole to see the whole field. It is no worse than many ballparks though. Plan on going early. The city closes off the streets around Fenway several hours before the game. There are street vendors, entertainers and lots of people strolling around. Some of the really well known Boston restaurants like Hilltop steakhouse and Legal seafood have kiosks set up around the park before the game. One that you won't want to miss is Luis Tiant's Cuban Sandwich stand. Plan on parking very far away and walking or taking the subway to Fenway.

I'm lauging at all the NY Yankee fans. I live southof Boston and to be honest, I dont like Fenway, but it does NOT SMELL OF URINE. If yankee fas says it does it's cuz the pissed on theri own pants. It's pricy, and the seats are old and are narrow, hope you're not heavy, and dont angle toward home plate. Since the new ownership took over soem 5 or so yrs ago they have put in 50 million dollars to try to improve the place. Go and enjoy the game, the VERY green grass and the Green Monster. It's only 35 feet high and about 290 feet form home plate. AND, Big Pappi is a great guy. It's only from jealousy that the Yankee fans hate him cuz they would LOVE him at Yankee Stadium, the really old dump! BTW, David is signed up for at least 5 more yrs so the Yanks cant get him LOL!

Fenway Park is magical and a true piece of Americana.
Go have a great time and enjoy. Get there early, actually get to Boston early because you will have an issue with parking. After that your entire experience will be worth it, including the streets outside the ballpark before the game.
Check out the scoreboard, hand operated.
There are some seats that may be blocked by a pole, but otherwise the field is so close you can see everything going on.
Check out the website for a seating chart and determine where you are sitting.
Fenway is a treasure, enjoy!!

Fenway is a spectular place filled with charm. It has been signficantly enhanced over the past few years and doesn't have the problems they used to have. Get there early so that you can walk around the park and check out the view from many different angles (right field at field level vs behind the plate vs the roof boxes).
They have significantly upgraded the concession area. Yawkey way is a fun place to get food or a souvenior. Inside the park, there is a lot of food places down the first base line or in right field). Up in right field by the roof boxes is a bar.
If you have the opportunity you should take a tour of the park and check out the press box and green monster seats (among other places).
redsox.com used to have a seating chart where you could get a view from each seat.
Enjoy

I've been to Fenway many times.
It is not a dump, it's a magnificent place, fairly small, but a nice ballpark. And I don't know where you heard it smells like urine? A Yankee fan? It will be a great time.
As far as you getting the best view, you should bring binnouclars, if you have any. It looks like you're on the field.

Ahhh there's nothing like the Yankees Stadium!!!! Well I've never been to Fenway Park, but every time I go to the Yankees stadium to a Yankee/RedSox game, all the Boston fans (the nice ones) always complains about that same thing. And well to my understanding, anywhere you sit should be a clear view... just that of course the higher you sit, the smaller everything will look. So don't worry about it.. just go to the game, sit down, watch it and have a good time!!!

I have been to Fenway and it is a great ballbark inside. You don't have to worry about not being able to see because the park is small. Anyone who says that Fenway is a dump is horribly wrong. It is the oldest operational ballpark and you feel like a part of the game. Don't overload on peanuts though.

I live in the Bronx and go to most of the Yankees home games. Our son and his family live in Boston. I go to a good many games at Fenway also. Although it is no Yankee Stadium I like Fenway Park. It's only pitfall I believe is that it is to small.

Just don't touch anything and wipe your seat down real well. Smell of urine is overwhelming, so bring a clothes pin for your nose. This will not help with the stench of the Red Sox play though.

Of all the ball parks in the majors Fenway is the least friendly place to be. I'm not talking about the fans as much as the facility itself. What you've heard is pretty much the way it is. Run down and dirty. It's outdated and and poorly maintained.
Some people find that to be charming, a slice of baseball history but it's disgusting. The Red Sox still charge an arm and a leg to get in and all you get is..................the Red Sox??????????
