They are synonyms but conceited is usually used to refer to someone having a high opinion about one/all of their traits and stuck-up refers to someone acting in a way to give others the opinion they are conceited.

The meanings are notably comparable. The origins of each term got here from connection with something diverse: a million) The hen (cock) proclaims to the international that he's king. 2) A haughty individual in raising their chin seems to be sticking their nostril up contained in the air. 3) In previous or midsection English, a "conceit" grow to be a notably use of words, perhaps a touch phony.

Stuck up is a synonym for snob so it's about creating a distance between you and those who don't meet your social standards. Conceited is more about narcissism. They couldn't possibly love anybody or anything as much as they love themselves.

If you are stuck-up then you are like snotty and look down on other ppl. If you are conceited then you are like all into yourself and think that you are the most gorgeous and the best at everything.

Both are forms of vanity but differ in their extremes. Namely, stuck-up would be a minor character flaw, whereas conceited would be a major character flas.

Conceited people are full of themselves and usually mean to others they don't see as "worthy" of their attention/time.

Stuck-up people act like they are better than others and usually don't bother speaking to people they don't see as worthy.
