Yes. I just saw the Mythbusters (American tv show) do it. The paper has to be very thin and large for it to be done, though. A piece of notebook paper or copier paper can only be folded seven times. You'll have better luck with tissue paper.

YES!!!!! The larger & thinner the paper the better (tissue paper, napkin, etc.)!
(BY THE WAY, I am assuming that you mean in half EACH TIME! Otherwise, like with Origami you can fold it tons of times.)
p.s. I just folded a napkin 9 times to confirm! (Diagonally in half instead of rectangle/square)

If you are asking if it can be folded in half each time, you can only be folded 7 times.

No, that is the limit to the number of folds you can make wahtever be the size of the paper

no i spent an hour lastnight trying to do it. my boyfriend came home and was telling me about it. there is no way that it can be folded in half more then 7 times no matter the size it is.

its either 7 or 9, but beyond that is impossible no matter how large the paper
