I was born in 1969 and so grew up in the 1970's, and I'm feeling nostalgic. Anybody else remember big GI Joe dolls? I still have mine, I guess they are worth some bucks these days. Whatabout Toughskin jeans...I think Sears carried them, they had 3 colors- green plaid, brown plaid or red plaid, and they were virtually indestructable....

I had a pair of bright red bell-bottom pants with a thick red, white and blue stripe around the bottoms in about 1976. My family took a tour of historic places for the Bicentennial and I remember wearing a LOT of red, white and blue clothing. Also, my brother had a brown pair of those Toughskins you refer to. He also had a really ugly striped pair that I'm not sure were the same brand, but BOY were they ugly! My mother complained about gas going up to 43 cents a gallon, and although this last one isn't the 70's, I thought it amusing....I remember walking smack into a big spiderweb on the night of the Moon launch of Apollo 11 (grew up in Florida, so I could watch the launches as a firy trail rising in the East even from my backyard.). There's some memories! Cheers!

P.S. My husband remembers "duck and cover" atomic drills, but I think they were gone by the 70's.
P.P.S. Can't resist: I had the Star Trek Enterprise bridge set with Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, Lt. Uhura and a Klingon (unnamed). If ONLY I had kept THOSE!

I saw a bunch of the big GI Joes with action hair in New Hope Pennsylvania just this past Saturday. They were going for over four hundred dollars each but they were still in their boxes. I had a pair of those pants when I was a kid, they were bell bottoms! I remember hippies smoked pot with me in the park when I was about twelve and those stupid clacker balls on strings that blinded some kid in my neighborhood. Good times!

Does anyone else remember "glow juice"? It was a lotion that you applied to your skin and after a short exposure to a light bulb, you'd glow in the dark...we must have used about 30 bottles of that stuff one summer. For some reason it wasn't available the next year (hmmm, wonder why?) and I can't find any info on it at all. I can't imagine it was good for us, but at the time it was the coolest. I also loved making "creepy crawlers" which were rubber bugs that you baked from magic goop in a glorified hotplate (another safe toy).

I was born in '58, so I came of age in the 70's. I remember there were still a lot of hippies running around, but by the late 70's they were pretty much gone. I remember "there's nothing like the face of a kid eating a Hershey bar."

I had a Velvet and a Chrissy. I got a Chrissy with BAD hair. All kinky. I also had a Dusty. She had big feet and little boobs. And a bad haircut.
