I personally think that England could have won the ashes if they had played Panesar from the beginning, and if they had the right attitude- The media made them too big headed! Stuart Broad should also have been played too.- England aren't going to win the World cup if they carry on like they are now. I don't really mind who wins the cup, as long as it's not Australia. What do you think?

England lost the Ashes for many reasons, the two big ones being they played rubbish and the Aussies were very good (specifics? Ponting batting like Bradman, Gilchrist rediscovering his form, Harmison bowling like Bradman and picking three horribly out-of-touch players for the first two tests - and let's not forget Fred's poor captaincy).
Panesar is a better bowler than Giles but it's worth pointing out he didn't get a wicket at Melbourne. Broad has potential but is still very raw, however he couldn't have been worse than Harmison, Mahmood and Anderson!
As to the World Cup - the way we are going we will be lucky to make the Super 8, let alone win the thing! We are the worst (proper) Test nation at ODIs, we must get rid of the Pro40 and have competitive 50-over cricket throughout the county season. I recommend putting money on Australia, they're 13/8 at SkyBet and personally I reckon that's generous. WI and SA are the most likely challengers, Pakistan might beat Australia but I don't think they're consistent enough to keep winning.

It doesn't matter what sport England are involved in the press always bums them up to be superheros.
Basics of it is England ain't that good at much every so often they do well in something and that's the benchmark.
They won the world cup in their own country when only 16 teams took part, do the maths they only won 4 games but ever since then not just when England are playing football it gets a mention.
They will not win the world cup if they do it will go down as a fluke but we will be constantly reminded of for the next 50 years plus.

England is a marvellous team and have the potential to win the world cup. The only problem is that they are too over-confident
and very lazy.
As far as the world cup is concerned, many teams have become quite powerful and can defeat Australia. But,according to me,
90% of the chances to win the world cup are in favour of Australia.

Australia played much better than England.and won the Ashes.

England has very less chance (actually no chance, though theoretically, every team has a chance) of winning the World Cup.
Australia and West Indies are strong contenders.
Australia, because of their consistent winning run and superior bench strength, and West Indies, being the hosts,
also boasting of some really good batsmen and decent bowling.

Though i agree that England is not performing well these days.but you must admit that Australia is a better team, infact best team this time in cricket......they are doing great and standing on top regarding performance....and on the other hand, England was not performing good at all, and this is a fact that better side wins always !

About WorldCup, so there is no chance of England this time too, Its very disappointing that they have qualified twice for worldcup final but could not make it.

And Australia is a strong candidate for this worldcup !

England can win the world cup.....but only if it was a world cup of mental instability, low confidence and uncertainty in ones own ability

Because we're better.
We should have won the last series too, but hey, 2-1 is hardly a BAD defeat is it. Not like 5-0!!!
World Cup? Ha! Buckley's chance, mate!

Reasons for not winning. Injuries, complacency, not enough matches against State sides to regain form, not having Vaughan availsble and poor selection. Finally, they allowed themselves to be intimidated by the Aussies. As for the world cup,I would not totally rule them out.Vaughan,Pieterson,Flintoff and the better form of Anderson and Lewis allied to better luck/form and "up and at them"attitude could surprise.

They lost because England sucks at cricket. And no, they won't win the world cup. They will have their butts kicked.
