Everything i'm assigned to, he volunteers to do. If I say the sky is blue, he says the sky is yellow. Then he'll look at me with a sly smile...

He contradicts everything I say and do, and even has the nerve to ask me "are you upset"?

Now, when I have the biggest project of my career, he volunteers to help.

HELP ME!!!!!!!

Call him out on it! If he's one of those contrary types, you have to be specific about it -- "Why do you disagree?" If he can't say why he disagrees, then he's probably just trying to push your buttons. Then you know that you can be a little more aggressive with him (but NEVER let your frustration show, you must not descend to his level). This will hopefully expose him to others as the twit he is. If he has legitimate disagreements with you, explore it with him one on one and try to be open-minded.

I'd also explore why he always wants to work with you if you two are always at odds. He's either a) someone who likes to fight, b) thinks you are somehow less than competent and he's trying to expose/undermine you, or c) he's got a thing for you and this is his messed up way of flirting.

tell her what a pal truly is by skill of acceptable definitions. That a real chum could have known one yet another for it sluggish. they're probably closer than a husband and spouse; because of the fact arguing is uncommon. they do no longer tell lies approximately their chum, even to get interest. they does no longer attempt and injury the different. If one grow to be in subject and mandatory traveling at a wellbeing facility or perhaps in reformatory, they could visit. (they does no longer refuse the guy because of the fact they have been in subject. it extremely is fiend. The "r" isn't there.) they do no longer go around telling lies approximately human beings to get interest or attempt a scare a man or woman into pretending they're sturdy acquaintances. actuality is maximum needed, If that dose no longer artwork, talk on your supervisor or boss approximately her; so if he/she hears the different, your actuality would be there too.

Sometimes personalities conflict with one another...and perhaps you are put off by his cheeriness? If he wants to help you, let him, but make sure you let your boss know that you did the project. You didn't ask for help, he offered. Perhaps you could even learn a thing or two from him and his happy go lucky attitude?

Sounds like you work with a real douchebag who might be looking to outshine you and make you look bad to your employer. Cover your a** where this guy is concerned. Start documenting his bad behavior so if he does try to throw you under the bus, you have documentation of his unprofessional behavior to show your boss. Good luck, I've worked with people like this too and it totally blows.

Sounds like he likes you... just ignore him. Politely tell him "no thanks" for help on the project. Eventually he'll get the idea (hopefully).
