Peace between people will only come when Christ is King. I know this sounds silly because it's repeated so often, but you can have peace in your heart through Jesus Christ.

The bible calls it a peace that passes all understanding. It is possible because the Christian comes to the realization that nothing on this earth matters. Fired from work, beaten, the house is falling down around you - who cares?

Or you can keep chasing the dream of controlling the whole planet, which, if you did acheive it, would give you some pleasures, but no real peace either. There's always something that will bother you, even if you are absolute tyrant.

Your question is ambigous, first you ask if there can be peace, well that depends on what that one person said what is your definition of peace. If it is constantly competing, then I am not sure because psychiatry has taught us to do it and unless we can break psychiatrys hold of who is fit and what is fit then there will always be someone else competing with us.

Then you asked if we could only have fleeting moments of nirvana, well nirvana is getting to that highest so called quality point which entails striving. You make striving sound like a bad thing so how can nirvana be good, so if it can't be good then how can we have peace?

That one person said we can only have peace if christ is the king, but I think they are a little misled, you do still care and care deeply what happens and how things are. And if you believe or have a faith in a higher power, read the bible, or such, you will realize that it requires that at times there is no peace in your life, but it does say something about there will be no more then one can bear put on them.

Ever wonder why you are asked to be or do some of the things in life that others may not think you should or that they may not have to, and to begin with and at certain points while you are involved with them you and they see them as unpeaceful or unbearable or against the current way that is supposedly suppose to be? If there is peace in that then I am not sure sometimes what hell might be?

But peace comes somewhere along those journeys once the mission is fulfilled, you just seem to know though that you can't stop until it is. It is one of those things.

If you believe in the bible, No. "For there was war in heaven..." If there was no peace in heaven then why would we expect peace here on earth? As long as free will is an eternal principle there will always be a possibility of conflict on earth, heaven, or hell. For all we know there is a war going on between the Gods and somehow we are in the middle of it all.

Its all about keeping your mind occupied so you don't realise that your pathetic little existance is completely pointless and meaningless.Reality is an ego inspired hallucination to prevent you from the realisation that you don't exist you mean nothing and you are going to die. Get over yourself and make every second count we are all part of the one global consciousness and you will soon return from whence you came.Death walks in your shadow, do what you will just do it well.

Define peace. For me peace is control. I dream that I am emperor of Earth.
