Although my primary reason is because I'm also a Christian, I can see other reasons as well.
For one thing, it's not professional. I know many people in business and when someone swears at work (this is an office job), the other people tend to cringe or roll their eyes. The person swearing even typically knows they're in the wrong, as they sometimes apologize.
Another thing is that foul language is not for kids. So if you're ever around kids, you should watch what you say. It makes it much easier when you don't swear normally.
Swearing doesn't add anything to an experience or conversation. There are much better words to more accurately express one's feelings and any word is good if just used as a placeholder for "I'm mad". Why say something vulgar?

Sometimes when I'm really angry, I used to swear a lot when I was younger- but more often than not now I like saying "darn" "shoot" and "blue-blazes" because I actually feel cooler when I say those words instead of actually swearing- because everyone else swears and I feel more cool and unique when I use a different word instead.
I DON'T use the Lord's name in vain though.

I used to swear occasionally, but since my daughter was born, I stopped swearing, so she wouldn't learn it. After six years, I got out of the swearing habit, and when I hear it now, it sounds crude and disrespectful. My daughter does not use any "swear words", and will call me on it if I even use something like damn. She recently played with the seven year old girl next door, and came home upset because the mother was using bad words to yell at the girl, and the girl was using them to yell back.

I swear occasionally, if something makes me angry enough and if no one's around to hear. I don't think it's very classy or professional and it tends to make people sound less intelligent than they really are. As a Christian, the only time I have a real problem with people swearing is when they use Jesus or Christ.

I am not religious, but I try not to swear. I think it makes you look hard, unprofessional, and just lame. Not to say I don't let something slip once in a while, but I try my best. I know plenty of Christians who swear and enough atheists who don't. Not a religious issue I guess.

I am not a regular churchgoer, but I DO believe in GOD.
I don't swear very often. When my children were babies, I made an effort to not use foul language at home so that my children would not be exposed to it on a daily basis.
My spouse and I are both college educated and we have plenty of other ways of expressing ourselves. We expect our children to do the same.

I don't swear, but I'm not a devout Christian or anything. I don't like them and I also consider racist terms the same way. I have an extensive vocabulary so I can think of hundreds of other ways to express myself.

No, I don't swear, not only because I am a christian, but also because I think, swearing is weak, because there far more words to use to express yourself, than by using shortcuts in swearing.

What does being Christian have to do with swearing or not swearing? Or is it that Christians are constantly trying to demostrate that their better than everyone else? Bragging about high moral ground does nothing but make non-Christians hate you more.
Remember when Jimmy Swaggart cheated on his wife with a prostitute? He is Christian, too. So I guess that means while he was sinning, they didn't talk dirty.
Are you swearing yet? come on, drop an 'm-fer' on me. I can take it. You'll feel better.
