Did you guys catch the deomcrats rebuttal? If so, do you think that the congress and house are going to take "W" acting like a dictator? Also, what do you think they will do to inforce the majorities opinion>? I just loved at the end of the speech how he just stuck right to "W" that if you are willing to work with us, we will support you. If not, we will show you the way. "W" must really think he is going to get away with his defiance. What do you think?

i was very impressed with webb, who by the way, wrote his own speech.

it really demonstrates the difference in attitude between a guy who actually served (webb) and who right now has skin in the game (his son is in iraq) and bush - to whom this all appears to be an exercise in lower mathematics...

i didn't watch it.
but, if we are unsuccessful in Iraq, and year or so from now the democratic government is overthrown, how stupid will it be that we allowed that to happen?
Iraq stands to be one of the strongest, wealthiest countries in the middle east, and a close US ally. If we allow all that we've worked for to be for naught (i did watch durbin's rebuttal) what does that say to the folks in the middle east about the US? That we will not be a good friend, and turn tail and run when the going gets rough- remember this invasion was supported widely by top democrats who now have waffled back to the safe side- what a crock that a leader who has the guts to stay the course is being ridiculed and these bleeding heart liberals are getting in power.
If the current Iraqi government collapses w/o US assistance, what will you all do when the Taliban takes power and begins breeding terrorists? Don't fool yourself into thinking there is an easy way out- we are not that far from achieving a free Iraq and the consequences of failure are real- i just don't get democrats refusal to acknowledge that the problems created by us leaving would loom quite large-

W acting like a dictator? Jeez and you people want Hitlery as prez? Man you are lame.

As far as your "statement" about the HR enforcing majority rule you have to be a bit more explicit.

If you are discussing Iraq the Executive branch has the power to act in war times against enemies foreign or domestic. The House and the Senate has the power to fund it. If the House and Senate were to take action to eliminate funding for Iraq there would be a couple things happen beside chaos and collapse of a fragile government. The partisans in congress would be shooting themselves in the foot.

My suggestion to you is to take a basic course in how the US government works before you and your ilk spout off about GW..
