As those before me have said, its Disk Operating System. It basically describes a family of operating software during a certain time frame (1981-1995). The most popular version was MS-DOS or, MicroSoft - Disk Operating System used primarily with earlier Windows versions. I rether liked DOS because it was an excellent troubleshooting tool. When Windows had a problem you could usually fix it with DOS.
