Tomatoes are historically the best. Nothing too large, such as cantaloupes - the idea is to correct, not dismember. Tomatoes are the right size and consistency, not to mention the have a wonderful splattering effect. Eggs, preferably rotten, are also ideal for this sort of thing.

I seams like a good idea but maybe I am turning into a liberal. Double sided razor blades embedded in potatoes are quite effective at correcting the politically correct.

Absolutely. But instead of throwing things at them, force them to listen to the inane drivel that they've turned nursery rhymes into - over and over again. Mix these with 'wintermas' songs and keep going until they see sense.
