I don't know what they do but it's a horrible shame if they indeed throw it away.

Many bakers and bakeries donate the left over bake goods to food pantries and soup kitchens,if the health department in their state permits. They can often take a tax deduction for a charitable donation. But sadly most just throw it product out into the trash.

I know that most will discount items at the end of the day or give it out free to the last customers. There's also some that donate to other places. At a senior center I worked for, a donut shop would donate extra donuts for their Monday night dances. And if they do throw it away, its better than getting stale rolls tomorrow right?
Most of them have probably been around enough to make just enough for the day.

As the others said concerning the baked goods, but the flowers are usually kept in a cooler and are not pulled out unless they plan on using them right away.

I used to work at Walmart. And you wouldn't believe all the food they throw away not just baked good either. They could feed all the poor in your town probably just on the food they throw away.

they throw away what they have to, why do you think grocery stores dumpsters always smell rancid? rotten food.
florists usually have the flowers growing in potts, they stay fresh until they are cut to be sold, otherwise they are thrown away, no one spends $50 on dead flowers.

They put it in plastic bags and then try and sell it the next day - the staff obviously just lie to customers and tell them it is fresh today!
