How long does a judge have before he has to make a ruling, or is there a set time frame? I live in Alabama and the case was divorce, custody, etc...

I live in Florida and my divorce was done within minutes. I didn't have custody issues. They want to do what is best for the children. I am sure each state is different. Good Luck

Last year it took 3 months to get the ruling in iowa. The judges have a lot on their plates. Your case is not the only one in front of them.

generally, the judge would give a date to submit briefs or something and make that date known. call your lawyer to find out when the judge will decide the case.

Is there a waiting period in your state? In Texas, you petition for divorce, and then have to wait 60 days before it will be finalized.

they usually tell you the same day, unless he has to take some time to think about what is best.
