it sounds like you cut it to the inside measurement, not the outside one. you don't say what you are trimming out so i can only offer a general answer. when planning trim layout, lay a piece on the project to determine how far it will reach to obtain an outside measurement, make a mark, then do the other side the same way. this will be the outside of the trim, if this piece butts up against a wall, measure from the wall to this mark and cut the trim this size. if this is an outside corner to an outside corner, mark both sides, then measure from one mark to the other to determine the length. take the molding and cut the angle on one end, then measure to the length you need and mark it, then cut. it is better to make it a little bit long as you can trim the piece a smidgen to fit. to do a whisker of a trim, lower the saw blade and push the trim against it to slightly bend the blade, hold the trim tight against the back and raise the blade, then turn the saw on and lower the blade to make the cut. i hope all of this is clear enough to understand, it is a good idea to practice on some scrap wood to see how this will work. and when doing trim installation, start with the long pieces first, then if you mess up, you can use up a piece that's cut short elsewhere. good luck, hope this helps.

Draw a picture of an angel, or use a cute one from
http://images.google.com/images?q=pictures+of+angels
Trace it on to a board (make sure you have a long enough one this time) with carbon paper, and use an "Exacto" knife, or maybe a chisel to make the angel 3D. Once you have the angel, you can use dental algenate, or even plaster to make a mold. There... you have an angel suitable for molding. Making molded angels is an honored profession. Good luck.
