the royals are all too accustomed to their quality of life - but how do you think they would cope if any such royal were to become a drop-out and walk the streets? Do you think they would have problems in obtaining work and shelter, finding a partner etc? How do you think the 'ordinary working person' would react if they met such a person?

Trading Places lives again! I loved that film but I guess if they chose to swap places it'd be different. P.Diana deliberately took her boys to shelters and such like so they could see how people suffer. Wouldn't do any of us any harm I suppose. I guess people they met wouldn't quite believe their eyes!

I get your point but I think it's rather a dig at royalty which sounds a bit like sour grapes. How would anyone; even if they weren't that wealthy, cope as a beggar with absolutely no income? Good question for all people to ponder - not just royalty. Rather ask, how would Prince Charles cope being a mere teacher and attempting to survive on a teacher's salary. He'd have to start budgeting! More realistic perhaps?

They would do exceedingly well, they only have to show their faces and people come running. They wouldn't have to beg for long, they would soon be set up in an hotel room, gratis.
The beggar however would last only until ejected by the butler, (about 30 seconds). The royal person would be lauded and worshipped internationally, and restored to luxury post haste.

Just because you're of royal ancestry, doesn't mean you live a life of privilege. Most royals use their titles and positions to help those who are less fortunate. I forgot the name of the duchess who would use her wealth to buy back Christian citizens from Sierra Leone who were caught up in their civil war and were sold as slaves by the Muslims.
She negotiates with the Muslim captors and pays their price then helps them escape out of the country.By the way,December 26th is Boxing Day. In most upper class societies and in nations of the U.K.,it's the one day where the servants and the family of the master of the house change places to get a feel of what it's like to "walk in the other person's shoes". Also, their military does it by the officer's and senior NCO's change places with the enlisted.

i think they would cope remarkably well as all are very well educated and intelligent , a beggar on the street can put on a posh accent and regal bearing despite perhaps being unable to read and write , so it seems to me that the opposite should apply 10 fold . also a royal in this position would probably find it fascinating and so would avoid the bleak reality of it because we all enjoy things we find interesting even if they cause discomfort .

The Royals wouldn't know what to do, but then neither would the beggars.
