Some frens and I went to a hotel for high tea, and 5 of us who ate oysters got food poisoning! I complained to the hotel who said that they would look out for other such cases, but they reported that there were none. I don't think that the hotel would voluntarily tell me that other guests got food poisoning because it would be bad for their business. Now they are offering me complimentary high tea for 2 out of goodwill. I want to know which government body in Singapore I can write to to notify them of this case. This is a reputable hotel and I expect them to purchase their food from reputable sources. 5 out of 5 persons got food poisoning, what other evidence do they need? (We have medical certificates).

1. Ask your doctor what causes the food poisoning, they will describe that in medical terms. If it is from oysters or roti prata. It may cause from the breakfast that 5 of you have taken.
2. Date and time of visits, as you have to understand all food needs to take some time to cause food poisoning, some take more than 2 days to react.
3. Once you have all this information then report National Environment Agency (NEA) in Singapore.
4. They will address the complaint with the hotel. They will take the oysters for check.
5. Rule of thumb that you know that you should not consume raw oysters, if you want to consume it should be in moderate and must served chill. I have witnessed many Singaporean eating oysters like they have never eaten in their whole life. I have ever seen people eating oysters with cheese cake as they are worried that they were run off.
6. After investigation the authorities will follow up with the hotel and you cannot do anything to the hotel The hotel is not liable to you but to the authority.
7. If I were you, I rather take the complimentary voucher and this time refrain from oysters.
8. By the way enjoy your Chinese New Year holidays.

You can report this to Minister of Environment. Normally if there is a massive of people got food poisoning due to the foods at the hotel, the Hospital will report to the Police post within the Hospital. If only 5 of you got food poisoning, it's very difficult to take up a case, as not everyone stomach can take fresh oysters.

If you and your friends had really suffered food poisoning, you'd all be going to the hospital emergency room. The hospital would have made the report as there would sure be other visitors in that hotel suffering the same fate. Otherwise, who's to tell that you've not caught a stomach virus from a friend who had the virus in the first place.
