Really, the idea of the anti-christ is a christian idea. So if you're a christian, you too, believe in the anti-christ. But on with the question. Not all black metal musicians believe what they preach. Slayer is a well known example of thrash metal, where the images conjoured up by the band do not reflect the beliefs of some of the members. The problem you are referring to, is in scandanavian countries where there is a resurgance of the classic pagan ideas has led to a new belief structure among the black metal community. Black metal, it is said, is scandanavia's largest export, fueled mostly by the outrageous behavior of the members of the represented bands. Nobody stateside would even know who they were had one of the members not killed the other. Or to note all of the chuches that were burned down a few years ago by black metal musicians.

In the end it comes down to the simple fact that confused teenagers will buy anything that stinks of counterculture. They proudly wear shirts of Norwegian Metal, often not caring that maybe the members of those bands burned down a 300 year old church, or killed others just to put their name out there and sell a few records.

Of course not all black metal musician believe in satanism, maybe some of them do. This matter is like black and white, night and day in music world. But one more thing for sure, i never care what the black musician believe, i just believe in their music only. That's the point.
And then why do they believe it ???
In my opinion, the musician or any human in this world have some view in their mind, so they are also. They believe in an anti christ. If we talk about this then we must talk also about the Christian also. In our society being a Christian is a way to describe our love to our God. But the way to describe it sometime make some other people can't understand, for example play some records in backward, or recording a video that contains any bands in this world which being judged as a satanic band. In this video they try to inject the believer to avoid all the music and the bands. And they explain it so very well, like AC/DC stand for the words Anti Christ / Devil Child or KISS = Key Or King In Satan Service, what an explanation right !!!!
Then if any people see about this things, and in the same time this people are the big fans of Kiss or Ac/dc then what is going on next????? In their heart then come the bad feeling, they start to hate that religion. Can you imagine if this big fans are teenager or some younger people!!!! Then after growing up to be a man, some of them maybe become a musician, then this musician begin to express what they hate in their older time. Am i right !!! They take some revenges to it in their music, so the anti christ is what they believe. Cause they are really hate when the bands that they loved being judged ike that.

So what i explain in here, believers of anti christ is the way for them to take some strike back things, cause any Christian do the wrong things, like what i have said before. So in my opinion this matter is not about the religion itself, but the matter is in the human being which have that religion.

I doubt many of them believe or practise satanism. Usually it is just a theme, more like watching a movie. It makes for some good entertainment. And not all dark imagery has something to do with satanism. I would say very little of it has anything to do with satanism at all. Usually the devil symbology is used strictly for shock value (which isnt really shocking anyway), or to go "against the norm". Really quite tame really.
