Mares (female horses) have very long cervical tracts and to compensate the male horses's penis has to be able to reach far enough down inside to ensure fertilization during mating. A gelding (neutered male) can be around 10 to 12" depending on the horse's size. A stallion (in tact male) can be much larger, I have a saddlebred stallion who has to be like 18+ inches. Not to be vulgar but my mini stallion who is 32" tall can make his touch the ground when erect, when I clean his sheath before servicing a mare sometimes I find leaves and twigs in there.

You have to take into consideration what size of horse are you referring too. There are minature horses, ponies, small horses, regular sized horses and giant horses (18h and taller).

It can be 50 centimetres but I have seen one (in erection) passing the 1 metre! (sorry, I dont know how much inch that is)
