I get them every so often. I use lemon juice, it stings a little but it makes it heal quicker. I would also advise getting some liquid bandaids...helps keep germs out.

Fever Blisters are a virus, they are a version of the Herpes Virus. Once you get it it doesn't ever go away, you will be susceptible for getting them for the rest of your life. There are a few drugs that attack the virus itself, but they won't usually help the blister itself heal any faster. They are mostly to be taken before an outbreak to try to help prevent them. Zovirex is one. Once the sore is formed the only thing that helps is a topical ointment. Carmex will help take some of the pain away, but Blistex or Abreva will help the sore heal as fast as it can. Like most people said it usually takes about a week or two for it to go totally away, depending on the size of the sore itself. I've had one or two in my life that took a little more than full 2 weeks to go away.

I feel bad for you. I have two sores in my mouth and I didn't do anything to get them. A fever blister takes about 2 weeks to go away. Carmex or Herpencine HL will help it go away.

Buy a lil container of carmex...it's like a lil lip gloss container..it's the best. Blistex works too, it's cheaper. It could take a week. I'm sorry, we are all unfortunate enough to have one from time to time. But be happy your not my sister, she had three at a time two weeks ago.
GAH!

My doctor told me that there is nothing that he could prescribe that works any better than Abreva.

It'll take a few days, a week or so.

If you're talking about a herpes sore on your mouth, it will take a few days. Abreva does help, Carmex not so much. And why not you? why anyone at all?

Ask your dentist, there is a product on the market that treats the actual virus, not just the symptom.

sucks huh?? yeah, usually takes me atleast a week for it to go completely down and then another for the sore to disappear. i'd use abreva, however it's not TOTALLY effective. something that'll sting it will do, carmax?

Why not you? Carmex is inexpensive and effective and even then expect about a week of healing time. NO PICKING!
