Yes -- just unscrew the lens and stand the Solitaire on its base. We used two of these as candles during a recent power outage. They're great! You just need to make sure the little key-clip ring is folded out of the way and not underneath it.

Something else the Solitaires are good for: hang them from a lanyard around your neck and you have "headlights" if you have to walk through a dark area and need your hands for something else. You can either adjust them to a wide beam or even unscrew the lens for a sort of "hanging candle" effect.
