Dont listen to other people who have been saying stupid things on answers. I myself was on a quest to dunk when I was in 8th grade. I had no hops and wanted to dunk so badly. Untill one day I search for jumping programs and found this

I now can grab rim. Before i couldnt even touch backboard.Jumping comes all from the legs and 15% upper body. You need to follow a program not just do squats there is way more into jumping . Just see.

do squats
i no they look stupid, but they help ur jump and out core area

do step ups
this is kinda hard to explain, but with weights in ur hands, (i recomend 20 lbs for u, but i may be completely wrong) step up onto a bench with ur right foot so ur knee and forms a 90 degree angle, and then bring ur other leg up above it. lower your left leg, but keep ur right leg on the bench. repeat 20 times and then switch legs. then do another exersize not requiring ur legs and then repeat the step ups again.

i dont know what u should try to touch if u cant reach the backboard and are too tall to touch the top of a door, so maybe try to reach the ceiling. So stant below it with your arms reaching up and jump up and touch the top, as soon as the tips of your feet hit the ground, emmediately jump back up. do like 10 of these in a row. its not difficlut, so do it like 5 times a day, and its an easy thing to do that really helped me jump higher.

Wearing a weight vest while practicing is what I recommend - other than wearing ankle weights. Do low-weight "squats" in weight training. And see if there's a local used-sports equipment store and buy a pair of strength shoes which are excellent for building your calf and quadriceps muscles.

Get some strength training shoes. They are a little uncomfortable, but definately will help.
