Its supposed to mean somthing that is at least 20 years old, classic and of quality design. But it sometimes depends on the particular type of item (clothing, hats, pens, cars, etc.).

vintage is not necessarily secondhand, but the terms get confused alot. Vintage can be an item that was made to look a certain style, so a vintage 60's dress for instance could have been made this year, it just has a 60's style.

It seems that vintage these days is referring to anything before 1980, which seems odd to me since I graduated in 1982. Something has to be over 100 years old to truly qualify as being an "antique", but the term "vintage" means different things to different people depending upon their ages. Something from the 1950's woould not be considered "vintage" by a person in their 80's.

over 20 years or so makes something vintage - of another era
with regards to ebay, a LOT of people mark up something as vintage when it is only a couple of years old and what they really mean is second hand and are trying to make the item more attractive and attract a higher price.

When referring to Motor Vehicles including Motor cycles "Vintage" means built between 1905 and 1947.
With clothing and furnishings "Vintage" generally means over 20 years old.
I hope that this is of assistance to you.

i recognize what you mean. the strong previous days are any time that appeared easier or extra effective. For us, that would want to intend the 50's, or childhood, or very last week. yet you're correct, there become no time in human heritage that become ideal, that we are able to seem decrease back on as some thing being fullyyt strong. we adore aspects and products of "the strong previous Days". human beings often finally end up ignoring that those undesirable issues ever befell. in this one party, i imagine that is a case of collective optimism for the previous, of focusing on the strong somewhat than the undesirable (which i imagine runs opposite to human nature in maximum different respects).

Ok, I don't know exactly what vintage means. But I do know that Abercrombie and Fitch says their clothes are 99% vintage. Don't know if that helps or not...:]

I think it's anything over 20-ish years old.
But the better stuff (in my opinion) is the older stuff, from 1950's and earlier.

Old but cool.
Old as in second-hand, or new but made to look old/in an old style.
