Communication with superiors varies a great deal due to company culture. Here are few examples.

"Mr. Smith I believe the copy machine is broken could you call the repair the man so that I can have that report in on time for the board meeting."

"Hey John the copy machine is busted, I think we need the repair guy."

"Yo, Johnny get that repair guy down the stupid copy machine has gone to Sh*t."

All these are possible forms of communication with a "boss" dependent on the culture of the company.

Just put your thumb and pointer fingers in a circle put this to your lips and make a kissy noise...

There you go. Most bosses, are bosses because they lack the social and intellectual aptitude and therefore ability to be able to converse with someone they are not in some way above...

Kissing *** is therefore the only solution verbal or otherwise! Long as your good enough at it not to be too obvious and you get what you want as a result... small expenditure. And if this is the case... Who is really the boss?

Ask questions. Many people are intimidated or even afraid to ask their boss about something because they fear that the boss will perceive them as someone who simply doesnt understand. This is not true. Almost all bosses will be pleased when you ask questions, for several reasons. First, it demonstrates that you want to be absolutely certain about what is being communicated, second, it shows that youre eager to learn more, and third, it opens the door for two-way communication and a healthy exchange of ideas. check out this site: http://www.pendaflex.com/enUS/Ideas/Communicating_Better_With_Your_Boss.html
