It seems ridiculous and unnecesary to me that in the year 2007 I still have to deal with middlemen in so many transactions. If I want a Toyota, I should be able to go straight to Toyota, not a franchised dealer who makes a hefty profit as a middle man. Same with mattresses and many other items.
This would be in the best interest of me, the consumer, as well as the manufacturer. By cutting out the middle man, the manufacturer and I would both save money. So why don't more companies sell their products directly?
