is the possilbilty of having your mail read more of a violation than the taxes the Democrats impose? To me, excessive taxation creates serfs and slaves in America.

Oh I am sorry I forgot they no longer raise taxes. They change the name to fees and raise them! Or they increase the cap.

I think the amount of "civil rights" (if you want to call them that) is getting overwelming! people want to be safe but don't want to be inconvenienced at the airport! Can't have one without the other!

Bush proposed a plan last night that would tax some medical benefits that are currently tax exempt. The dems on the other hand have vowed that there would be no new taxes on the middle class. The republicans have controlled the table for 6 years and have been spending hand over fist. Who is really violating your "financial" rights?

i'm against excessive taxes and even the manner in which we are taxed. but it doesn't have to be an either or thing. we can be taxed and still have rights. we can't expect our bills to pile up and be ignored,in personal life or government. borrowing from certain programs to pay the bills is not good either. would we as individuals expect our children to pay our bills? i don't. i don't understand your comparison of the two issues though. can you explain how taxes are a civil rights violation?
edit. the brady bill did not effect me,i was/am still able to buy any gun i want,as long as i violate no laws.
which party was responsible for the fees increase after 9/11 at every government agency we deal with?

I do not think that high taxes is what is the problem in america. it is poor government services due to greed and incompetence. we need to expect more from what we pay for taxes.
raising taxes does not help if the govt continues to waste the money. we need responsible govt officials that spend orr taxes wisely. bad government is the problem. not taxes..
we also need civil rights and they do not cost anything. the poorest country with no taxes can afford civil rights. so it is not a choice of either /or.
reasonable tax rates
good services
high degree of civil rights
all three are needed and one does not hurt the other.

it is often given to the homeless. It provides them a fashion of being contacted throughout their interest searching activities and in the event that they are attacked whilst on the streets. Crimes against the homeless is a enormous concern in maximum cities. It does no longer something to reason telephone expenditures to improve and in case you will possibly examine out the common cellular telephone plan, 250 minutes a month is the minimum pay as you go plan they might get. z

Ok there are already classes of people in America. I think taxes are smart if spent well. But when you foolishly spend money on things that are not helping then that's dumb. How much to keep America safe? I think there are better and cheaper ways to protect America. Not by saying we are on the offense against Muslims. Why not spend in on real homeland security not a stupid occupation that has gone south.

There is a difference when it comes to your civil rights and your income. If they can read your mail what next they just walk into your home. My dad fought in ww2 for our rights I don't agree with all the tax laws but my physical freedoms far ourweigh tax worries. How would you like it if they could just walk right in and take your computer.

So you'd rather have Bush's measly $300 tax cuts for the majority of citizens, huge tax cuts for corporations/wealthy, and continue spending $8billion/month for the wars? What about Bush's signing statements, wherein he says he can ignore the laws he's just signed on "executive authority"? What about the administration's evisceration of habeas corpus? Do you really think that a president assuming truly dictatorial powers is less harmful than taxes?

Worse than taxes is DEBT. I don't see conservatives rantiong about that. They like the idea of passing off their debts to futurte generations.

You haven't been paying attention for the last decade or two, have you? The biggest taxes have been those levied by the Republicans, including the ones going to pay $1.7 billion a day for the war. The days of the fiscally conservative republican are over.

Yea, the libs like to sound the alarm over the Patriot Act (which has affected no one that I know) and turn a blind eye towards the Brady Bill (affected me and many others), which is by far the more intrusive, oppressive law, and a much greater threat to our civil liberties (specifically gun rights)
