you're talking about virtual burying, not the actual body, right? Go to "IN MEMORY OF PETS"- it's free, and they have all sort of memorial stuff, tea light cermonies, stories, pictures, all kinds of stuff, on their own site, plus they have links to other pet bereavement sites. Good luck and sorry to hear about your pet's death.

The last cat that I had buried at a pet cemetery in May, 2004,cost $275 ($225 for the burial& lot $50 for the casket or container) The price varies, according to the size of the pet. When I had my dogs buried 15-20 yrs ago, it was considerably less (of course) You can now have your dear pet cremated for a lot less money, which is probably the way I will go in the future. You can then have your pets buried on top of each other without buying another lot. Be very careful about burying your pet in your backyard as some places have very strict ordinances against it. If you have a lot of property it would be nice to bury your pet on your property, I didn"t have this option.

I think you have a few reasonably priced options that are not scams.
#1 You vet can have your pet cremated, either in a mass cremation or individually. If it's done individually, you'll get the ashes back and you can put them in a nice urn or a box, keep it in your house, bury it, or spread them outside in your pet's favorite spot, whatever you prefer.
#2 you can bury your pet in the back yard, some specialty pet stores sell nice memorial stones for the garden, you might even be able to order a custom one, or make your own.
In my opinion, this would be much nicer than having your pet buried some place you've never been to and can't visit.
You could also use a local pet cemetary, but I think they are expensive.

I was going to answer this question with a silly answer until I read the rest of your question,
My feelings on this are that the web site is only going to make money for people trying to make a few bucks from your sad loss so high or low I would not entertain any of them
maybe you should make your own memorial to your pet in your garden, window box or even in your home, as part of this memorial why not have a photo album filled with your obviously much loved pet possibly a favourite toy or two
it doesn't have to be morbid you are celebrating his good times with you so he will still be part of the home.
You can tell from my answer I am a soppy Brit but I do feel a personal memorial will make YOU feel better

Do not bury in yard. Many areas have made this illegal. I have always used the local humane society, many have pet cemetaries or will cremate, and all monies go directly to support the shelter. A memorial fund can then be set up for the shelter. I wouldn't waste money on anything but. You can make your own web page picture memorial and save the money to give to the shelter. Now at the holidays we always make a contribution to the shelter in honor of our pets. I would spend whatever I had to help animal or human stay alive and live a life worth living, but to bury? It's big business, not for me!

Don't fricken' pay!!!! If you're going to pay that much, have your pet cremated and scatter the ashes at his/her favorite spot. If It was an indoor pet, pick a place where you will be at peice and scatter them there. I can feel your pain, being an animal lover, but I have to say this (as harsh as it may sound) Your friends won't care about the photos and the memories like you do. Sorry. Just take you closest friend, be it, wife,husband,g/f or b/f whatever.Just have a day of celebration. Our pets are our children and our companions to our souls...the deep part we don't share with anyone. Don't make it a retail value sort of thing, pleeaase?

Now when you say ( Virtual ) are we talking just pretend? I guess if you want some kind of on-line obituary then just get a web site made up. There are some good soft ware to help with this. Buy that first before you go pay a guy to do what you can do yourself.

I am sorry but i would not pay to get my pet buryed! I would just take him out in the background and bury him there, i would also probably put a big rock where i buryed him then right on the rock, his name, birth date, the day he passed, and then my favorite memories with him! That costs nothing and i could just go to my backyard and see the where i buryed him everyday, then having to get in my car and go to a pet cemetery!

I had my beloved pet dog cremated after spending $726 at the animal emergency hospital. She was 12 years and had been hit by a careless speeder. The cremation cost $40 and was very nice. I have her ashes in a small urn and clippings of her very short hair to keep with me wherever I happen to go...

Yes, birds and reptiles too. It is a PET cemetery, not a dog/cat cemetery. Some fish cost more than some pure bred dogs, and live even longer. And people get attached to any pet, with or without fur, regardless of price or longevity.
