I'd make the statement that health care is the responsibility of the individual, not the government, and pass tort reform to lower the prices of health care.

As one of the 45 million Americans without access to affordable and adequate health care this subject is dear to my heart. I have talked to Canadians and while there are some problems with theirs they would never want to trade health care systems with ours. I would think that universal health care would be the answer to the problems that the American people face if they ever lose a job or have to quit because of medical reasons. The CEO of General Motors says that $1500 of every new car goes to the cost of insuring the employees and retiree's, this is a cost that every American that buy a new car pays. I am sure that in varying degrees that all industry's have this same problem which makes it hard to compete in the world market and is in effect a "tax" that everybody pays when the purchase a new anything. Why not take the profit out of the insurance company's hands, regulate the cost of service and drugs and lower the cost of health care for everybody. At the same time assure everyone of getting affordable and adequate health care.

I would tell ppl to ask about health insurance benefits when applying for a job, not just the wages. I would also put more emphasis on healthy living. Nobody should weigh 400 lbs. and the 400 lb smoker is putting him/herself at great risk.

Every health proposal involves ppl paying something for insurance and sadly, and no matter how cheap the insurance is, some wise guy will think that he can save $ by not buying insurance. Even in countries with national health insurance, the individual must pay some kind of monthly fee for the insurance. It's not really free insurance.

I realize that there is a huge debate about health insurance for everyone, (universal plan) but I believe that we need one. I cannot stand that I am a hard working American women who can not get insurance because I can not afford to pay for it, I really would like to see some kind of plan pass into law. if you think about it uninsured people cost everyone money when you go to the hospital and get rapped with all those hidden fee's, when someone uninsured walks into an emergency room, for just to be seen by a doc, it cost the hospitals money so they pass it on to us and the government, and hard working people get doubly screw. They pay there taxes and they have to cover the cost when it comes to there own insurance. I pay my taxes which help the hospitals and help pay for Medicaid and Title 19, yet I can’t go see a doctor my self tell me that the system as it is, is not screwing us and I will show you some one who is ignorant to what your taxes do. the uninsured cost us millions in taxes each year!

I would make people work for their healthcare unless they WERE disabled. Illegal immigrants? No. Lazy people? No.

Contrary to popular belief, healthcare IS a luxury. It's against the law to turn down people if it IS an emergency due to lack of money, but for standard of care, it's to be expected.

Sorry. My beliefs stand. Buy insurance and pay for your healthcare. If the doctors were still making money and not having to write so much off due to people skimping on their bills, perhaps bedside manner would improve as a whole.

I would make it where everyone is entitlefd to 12 free visits a year to the hospital, that's 1 visit a month, rgardless of income, of insurance, etc.

I would make it where there isn't such a long wait in the emergency rooms, and folks aren't stuck with a $5,000 dollar bill for 3 stitches in your finger that you cut while chopping up a tomato!

I would also stop making it where illegals can come over and get free medicaid and free hospital visits! Free birth control and free ewverything else!

Absolutely not universal "health coverage". that is just a way to raise the cost of services from the medical industry and channel tax dollars to them.

The so-called socialized medicine of the Commonwealth countries works much better by giving everyone health care (not "coverage") and keeping charges at a realistic level. Having experienced that system in three Commonwealth countries I can tell you that the quality of care is much better than in the U.S.

universal health care for everyone Make people responsible for their health by requiring participation in lifestyle change programs(help to quit smoking etc)
revise the litigation system to stop predators from suing healthcare for frivolous reasons and maintain some ability to really discipline those who need it.
More healthy life style projects such as safe biking lanes/trails etc
exercise facility at work place etc
too much to be done

I would make the government pay for All heath care and then health insurance companies would only cover cosemtic surgery . The money to pay for the governmnet sposored health care would come from all that wasted money that is spent on useless studies and health care study groups and lobbyist for insurance companies.
