When I minimise an open window or email, it goes to the taskbar and then disappears. I have to re-open whatever I was working on. I have windows XP. Thank you

Pls check the wether Auto hide task manager is selected or not. If yes, you have to place the cursor for some time in the same place where u see ur task bar generally. Then u can see ur minimized windows.
Try out in diferent browsers.
Try to minimize the windows through key short cuts(win key+D/ winkey+m),then try to restore them by using Tab key.

you are probly pressing the escape button instead of minimize.
