Small dunts can be taken out with hot iron and brown paper, but if it quite damaged you will need a new one. You can claim it on your insurance,

Afraid no if you want it to look good. You can effect some form of repair by cutting the damaged piece out and sticking a new piece in but you will notice it. You might get away with it if you have a convenient pattern that you can cut out at its edge. But it will be a task getting a new piece to fit exactly.

you can replace to the next seam, or install a drop in cutting board / hot pad ( made of glass ) into the top ( flush mount in a hootie ring - tell that to the supplier)! I did this in a rental, & as far as i was concerned, I had done them a favor.
