cannot install sidebar?

You`ve not given me much to go on here, but I`m guessing you have recently installed IE7, which also took away my sidebar. If you re-install IE6, you should get your sidebar back and things should run as they did before. They did for me.

If you have recently installed IE7 you will have to wait for it to automatically update your sidebar approximately 1 week done it myself and now have IE7 and sidebar working perfectly
