Easily... depending on store policy, most stores will let you return items for cash... so go buy something with your giftcard that is the exact or a little more of the amount.... then wait a day or two and return it un-opened and they usually won't have a problem taking it back and giving you a cash refund.

Most gift cards wont' let you do that. They want you to spend it at that store. I work in retail and I know for a fact that once you buy a gift card your stuck with it. Also if you return something w/o a rcpt and it's over 5$ the money 99% of the time goes onto a gift card. Some gift cards you can use to buy gas with and save some money with it-that's always cool. I wan to add that at Khols and Wal Mart once you buy something with a g/c and then say return it w/in a few days, it will still go back on a g/c. This is to help prevent theft-ok it dont always work. For example if someone stole something, then returned it unopened, got a gift card for it instead of merchandise, the store has the right to put a stop on the g/c if they can prove the returned mechandise was stolen. It's happend before.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If you need cash, get it some other way.
