Not sure what you want for an answer: Social roots of child abuse/and alcoholism.. or seperate answers for each issue.
Parents of alcoholics are/were often alcoholics too, which in itself is child abuse due to the nature of alcoholism.

I think that alcoholism can come from either family history or it can be used as a way to deal with emotional turmoil.
Child abuse is a cycle. Usually the abusers have been abused themselves.

I am in agreement with AA on this one. I really don't think it is so important on what the roots are as getting the message and the cure as it exists for most people out there.
To me it seems the social causes are legion. They would include: availability of alcohol in price and location; acceptance of alcoholic behavior by peers; superiors at work, and family members; the availability of places such as bars and clubs; and the enabling behavior of local law enforcement or other agencies providing taxi services or other services to keep the consequences of alcoholic behavior from hurting.

I guess if you see enough people drinking as a child or as an adult it could have a impact on if you drink or not.Drinking is a disease that your born with( so Ive been told )If your mom or dad abused alcohol your more likely to have a problem with it...

The person that raised you and usually it is the parents and they are drunks and they abused YOU then you have learned this and even though you hate it You become the same thing,,,,
