open up the computer itself. you should see a slot where your last hard drive was. the hard drive slides into that slot and you will put some screws in to keep it in place. plus, you gotta make sure that the ide cable(gray looking) and the power cable are plugged in. if you are keeping the old hard drive and just adding this one, there should be an extra slot for it. if not, you wont be able to install it. you can always take it to a computer shop and they would be able to do it for you for a small fee. good luck!

Does it have an Operating system on it? If not, you must have an OS disk to install it on the new hard drive. If it doesn't and you don't want to get an OS disk, add it as a secondary HD. Make sure the jump pins are set to slave, and the one on the original HD is set to master. You may have to do some changes in the BIOS setting. Once you open windows, go to My Computer, if there are two HD's then you are good, if not email me and I can walk you through setting the new one up. Good Luck

Some drive problems can be easily fixed by yourself using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.
