Doesn't it occur to Congress that the easiest thing we can do to minimize our losses in Iraq is to make amends with the International Community - and what better gesture than to remove Bush and Cheney from office for unilateral behavior in an international situation. We can turn to the UN who has people that can better address the Iraqi situation and we can work with them toward a peaceful end. I would think that now that Hussein is gone that Bush could feel proud of his accomplishments as President and could see this as a viable solution and step down voluntarily - don't you?

Now that this recent change has occurred is the time to make this change, if we are to make the most impact on the International Community as to our sincerity of wanting a global solution, of wanting to be a team player and not a bully.

I disagree - I don't think it matter the religion of others on this planet as long as we are willing to work together for a peaceful planet. I don't think apologizing and getting back in with the UN shows weakness, i think it shows national maturity. I think Bush can easily count the execution as a success and many others will too - it doesn't have to be disgrace, he can just step down and allow the voice of change to happen. This is governemnt for the people, by the people. He thought he had a mandate when he had 2% of the populace vote in '04 - last November's mandate was a lot clearer than that.

If we can solve the problem, let's turn back to others who maybe able to help in a spirit of global community. The UN shouldn't have our best interest at heart - they should have international peace as their primary goal.

Peace!

Good question, i think impeachment would be excellent for the U.S. at this point, and you guys would look much better on the global scale. Nobody else likes Bush, taking him out would look good on you guys.

I can see what you are saying but Bush will never back out of this war. Most of our Allies have left us hanging over there. If we pull out how does that make us look to the terrorist groups? Very weak!!!!! Bush is staying the course to so we can continue to live in peace here at home. Sure I do not agree with sending more ground troops I believe there is a better way to handle the situation.
Also the international community has never liked the US unless ofcourse they need our food money and protection...
So we will never make amends with other countries.
So yes I agree we need a new face in office but God help us in 08 when the dems pull us out!

If you think that the UN has our national interests at heart, you haven't been paying attention. They have solutions for nothing. Impeachment of a President who has done nothing wrong but try to bring this war to a close (for our best interests) would show the world that we have totally given up in failure. I admit that this war has lasted longer than the powers to be realized that it would - we made tactical mistakes that might (and I emphasize the word might) have been headed off or handled a different way. The President pointed out that we did not get into this to end in failure. I do not agree with everything that he does, but I am knowledgeable enough to know that we don't have all the factors to weigh (these are withheld in interest of national security), so who am I to judge our President and his cabinet on their decisions to pursue this war. There has to be something to it! Bashing the President will not solve our problems - it never has and never will. So far as the International Community - tell them to stand aside - they for sure don't give a rat's a** about what we believe or what we care about. Americans have too long tried not to offend this bunch of windbags trying to talk to a bunch of terrorists who will not respond to rhetoric. In the words of Theodore Roosevelt - "Speak softly, but carry a big stick." It is time that we wield the big stick and keep it in the terrorist's faces. I don't like this war any more than you do - it is frustrating. Just imagine how frustrating it is for our leaders to tend to business with the terrorists and a blood thirsty media and populace to whom they cannot "put everything on the table". Please just back off and put yourself in our President's shoes for a little while - if you truly do that, then you should be able to drop this idiotic stance of impeachment and President bashing. If not, then you are totally past any hope.

Why do people not understand that it's not just Bush and Cheney's fault?I can't say I'm a fan of either but it's not all their fault. There are a TON of other people in government with the same agenda. You'd have to clean out the whole thing to change anything! Not just change the president.

Seriously, you need to look up the word "impeachment" and see what it really means, seriously.

As for "making amends with the International Community," you're kidding, right? You're really going to try and make nice with people whose lives are governed by a religion that not only says it's okay to kill non-believers, but promises a place in heaven for doing so? Are you out of your ever-lovin' mind?

And if you're willing to turn to the Useless Nations for help, then I pity you and don't want to be anywhere around you when your world comes crashing down.

Bush has shown that he is far wiser than you are in this instance by NOT going to the Useless Nations and by NOT just giving up and walking away. Our enemies - the Muslim terrorists, in case you haven't been paying attention - will only view this as a sign of weakness, and will attack us again...here, in OUR country.

What would you have us do then? Apologize to them some more?

Sorry, no.

An impeachment process takes 3/4 of the H.O.R and the senate to go through. That means you will need that kind of a majority vote to impeach a president of the US.
I mean that is one tough process to crack, so why waste american money on lawmakers to impeach someone when they can take that time, money, and effort to deal with real issues? I think pardoning Nixon and moving on was one of the best decisions Ford made for this country.

You can't impeach Bush.

Whether you consider the war in Iraq right or wrong, Bush has not violated any laws of the United States.

Can't impeach a guy who hasn't broken the law.

The term impeachment creates a common misconception. It doesn't mean to remove a government official from office. It just means to accuse a government official of a crime. We can't do it because Bush hasn't TECHNICALLY broken the law.

It's so cute how clueless people are when it comes to the law and impeachement of a president.

Please.... do some research before asking questions.

There are actually very few crimes that a sitting president can be impeached for.... seriously.

Please do yourself a favor and stick with what you know. And, seriously.... who gives a crap about the international community? Since when do we answer to the UN????
