No, I don't think it is. UNLESS of course you are about yourself. Meaning you think you are all it. Egotistical you know what I'm saying. BUT a picture of yourself I like the idea as it tells everyone what you look like. If I had a picture of myself on the puter I would have it in my avatar. By the way I am UGLY as sin and uglier than dirt. So with me it isn't an ego thing.

It really depends with what intention a person puts that picture there.
you have people who put half naked pictures of themselves to show their abs and maniquin body but others to simply make it easier to recognize him/her. After all sometimes i want to know who the hell im talking to and nicknames change so much that its hard to keep up. Also sometimes its helfull if you see that th eoerson either man or women to understand their reactions.

Nothing wrong showing people what you look like. So long as you're not shirtless or in some stupid supermodel pose trying to look hot.
