Yes, Lance is the man. He knows his stuff. Just remember this emo thing is not as new as you may think.

You shouldn't be listening to current emo anyway. Emo started out being "emotional hardcore", stuff like Further Seems Forever, Fugazi, Rites of Spring. That's some good music. Now emo is defined as whiny and screaming- My Chemical Romance, Hawthorne Heights. Now, people can call anything emo they want: Coheed and Cambria (that's more prog-hardcore) is a prime example because the lead singer's amazing vocal range makes people think he's whining about feelings when there's actually a complex sci-fi storyline in the lyrics.
"Emo" doesn't mean "emotional". It means "emotionally vulnerable and sensitive". So don't say all music is emo.
Simple Plan is not emo. That is twenty-five-year-old men singing about being 16.
Hawthorne Heights is fake. Their singer says he writes those sorts of songs because it's what the fans want. They are what we today call emo.

Listen to Lance he knows what's up. All the mascara clad MTV pop stars claiming to be emo are soo far from it. Check out Dashboard Confessionals albums before "A Mark, A Mission, A Scar" which are what I consider true emo. Spitalfield is another decent example along with Further Seems Forever, Bright Eyes, and I hesitantly add Death Cab for Cutie.

The Mascara Story, Bullet For My Valentine, The Suicide Pact, Hawthorne Heights, As I Lay Dying, Funeral For A Friend and Bleeding Through all have emo-ish songs

Real Emo or fake MTV emo? Real Emo(the ones that started the word) is Sunny Day Real Estate, Knapsack...then Saves the Day, Dashboard confessinal, The get-up kids(amazing band), Rainer Maria. Anything you see on MTV or on the radio isn't EMO despite what your tattooed, pierced up friends that shop at Hot Topic say.

Simple Plan is nowhere near and never will be EMO. There music doesn't even remotely resemble Emo in ANY way. They play pop-rock.

Try every single band and song on the earth, ever created. Emo=Emotional. Without emotion, music wouldn't be music.

EMO? For Christ sake! Go buy a Black Flag or a Circle Jerks record. Screw the whiny pretty boy music.
